Kalimat Foundation launches ‘Stitching Hope for Gaza’ initiative

Date Posted 02 Apr 2024

Kalimat Foundation has launched a new effort named “Stitching Hope for Gaza,” which is a potent display of art, culture, and generosity.

With all proceeds going toward supporting children in Gaza through the Emirates Red Crescent’s “Tarahum—For Gaza” relief campaign, which offers much-needed aid to those affected by the ongoing war being waged against the Palestinian people, the initiative introduces a merchandise collection inspired by the traditional Palestinian Keffiyeh and Tatreez.

The new collection of items, which KF unveiled during the Sharjah Ramadan Majlis 2024 at the Sharjah Research Technology and Innovation Park (SRTIP), comprises themes and designs that pay homage to the cultural identity, folklore, and tradition of the Palestinian people. The public will have access to the exclusive collection via the foundation’s official website as well as some retail locations around the UAE. The organization also plans to hold several social events all year long to promote Palestinian culture.

Kalimat Foundation Founder Bodour Al Qasimi stated that, “I created Kalimat Foundation to help vulnerable, disadvantaged children whose lives are thrown into chaos by conflicts such as this devastating war in Gaza, which is trampling on the future chances of a generation of innocent young Palestinians. Emiratis feel deep sympathy for their plight and are determined to support in any way they can, which is why I know they’ll respond well to ‘Stitching Hope for Gaza’, because it’s an opportunity to do something concrete to get desperately needed aid into the Gaza Strip.”

The goods line includes a wide variety of products, including scarves with elaborate designs that encapsulate the spirit and beauty of Palestinian Keffiyeh and Tatreez artistry, as well as embroidered T-shirts, tote bags, fabric and leather purses.

Additionally, the line has stationery goods that represent the tenacity and uniqueness of the Palestinian people, such notebooks, stickers, pen holders, and enamel pins. These goods are meant to represent a strong bond with the land and a long history of a community working for justice and peace.
